Skin treatments: Start with the real concern

Melasma, acne marks, dryness and texture are different problems. Let us identify the real concern before picking a skin treatment.

“Doctor, I want clearer, brighter skin.” I hear that a lot. But “clear skin” can mean completely different things. One person has melasma, another has lingering red marks after acne, another has dry irritated skin. I don't want to suggest the same treatment to all three simply because they used the same word.

Clearer skin isn't a diagnosis

First, let's identify what's actually bothering you: pigmentation, redness, acne, texture, dryness or something else. Those problems have different causes and different ways to manage them. A single injection or skincare product doesn't address every one of them.

Skin mesotherapy is not mesofat

This matters because the names sound similar. Skin-focused mesotherapy is discussed in the context of certain skin concerns, while mesofat products are marketed for fat reduction. They are not interchangeable. What an injection can reasonably do also depends on the precise ingredients, product status and condition being treated.

What about PN, PDRN and other skin boosters?

They're names people hear more often now, but I don't want anyone choosing something just because it's fashionable. I would rather identify the skin concern first, then discuss whether a particular product has an appropriate place in the plan, including its limitations and cost. Different preparations should not be treated as identical.

The basics I talk about just as often as injections

Sun protection and moisturiser sound less exciting, but they're part of what makes long-term skin care work. If someone is struggling with pigmentation or irritation, skipping those steps while chasing procedures rarely makes sense to me.

Tell us what your skin is going through

Please mention allergies, recent treatments, medicines, active breakouts and skincare products that are causing irritation. If the skin is already burning, peeling or very inflamed, I may prefer to settle that problem before suggesting more procedures.

Sometimes the best skin treatment starts with not injecting

There are days when I would rather help someone simplify a skincare routine first. Once the skin is calmer, we can see what truly still needs attention. That is less dramatic than selling a package on day one, but it can be a much better starting point.

Common questions

What does skin mesotherapy treat?

That depends on the product and the actual skin problem. We'd discuss the ingredients, expected limitations and alternatives rather than promise “glowing skin” to everyone.

Are dark marks and acne scars treated the same way?

No. Colour changes and depressed scars are different problems and need different assessments.
